D-Day For Dion
posted (January 25, 2019)
Landowner Dion Zabaneh has been acting in open defiance of the Department of the Environment for 6 days now. He's continued to fill his mother, Prime Rose Gabourel's titled land, parcel 4670 at the western end of Seashore Drive - after he was informed of a stop order against the development.

The parcel happens to be in the sea - and - DOE says it would first have to approve any such development - that is, if you can overlook the fact that the seabed cannot be sold. But Zabaneh has openly defied them - and all this week, the DOE has been preparing its legal standing to enforce the order.

So, this afternoon, the DOE showed up with the Gang Suppression Unit to enforce a stoppage. Two environmental officers went to the property and one of them read the Order and thereafter, gave Zabaneh and his crew 30 mins to clear the premises. Zabaneh exploded in a fit of rage. We have a few clips:..

After that, tantrum and a litany of threats, Zabaneh and his crew left. He has been filling relentlessly for the past 10 days, so it;s left to be seen if he will resume tomorrow, since he is of the opinion that he can only be stopped by an injunction.

According to the DOE, he is being charged for failure to comply with an enforcement notice, commencing an undertaking without environmental clearance and for obstruction and assault of an officer. Since he is seen verbally assaulting another officer today, there are expected to be more charges.
