Charges Dropped Against Corporal At Court
posted (January 29, 2019)
Commissioner of Police Chester Williams confirmed via text message that he has seen the post. He acknowledged the deficiencies and told us, quote, "It is something we are working on. A contractor has been engaged to do an estimate so that the area can be renovated. As soon as the estimate is obtained we will seek the funding from GOB to upgrade the area." End quote.

And while that is well and good, that's not the end of it - there is also a major lapse in procedure - after all, how could a detained person, whether he is a police officer or not - have a camera - and presumably a phone during his time in detention?

Well, the Commissioner told us, quote, "Professional Standards Branch has been directed to investigate how a prisoner in police custody could have had access to telephone and be on Facebook throughout his detention."

So…some duty officer is definitely in trouble, but what about the man who made the post? No less than a police Corporal putting his Department's dirty business out there in the street.

Now, as you might guess from such a post - Usher is not on the best terms with the Department. He's currently on interdiction, facing a criminal charge of drug trafficking. But, he's also feels that in this case he was victimized, and locked up for no reason. Which brings us to our next story - how Corporal Darrell Usher and his brother, Dorian ended up detained in the first place.

Well, it started on Sunday night around 8:00, when 26 year old Christopher Faber was at his friend, Dorian Usher's house gambling. There was a dispute over some winnings, and a fight broke out between Faber and Darrell Usher. He said Darrell Usher punched him, and Faber picked up a pint to defend himself. That's when he claims Dorian Usher pulled out a gun and fired two warning shots.

Faber made a complained and both of the Usher brothers were detained on Sunday night. He Darrell Usher of wounding him and Dorian Usher of aggravated assault with a firearm - an offence which results in automatic remand. But Faber went back and told police he didn't want court action. Still, police did not release the brothers and detained them for 42 hours before taking them to court in the prisoner van today.

So they went to court today, where 36 year old Darrell Usher was arraigned on a charge of harm, while 35 year old Dorian Usher was arraigned for aggravated assault. But, nothing happened because the complainant, 26 year old Christopher Faber went to court to tell the magistrate that he doesn't want any further court action against either brother. With that, the charge was withdrawn. Dorian was represented in court by attorney Alifa Elrington.

After that, the accused, Dorian Usher and the complainant, Faber could be seen leaving the courthouse hugging up and horsing around.
