Well, actually, it;s not that new: it was designated as the commissioner's office way back in the 90's - and that's about the last time it was used! "During my tenure as commissioner I intend to have an open door policy as well as easy access to members of the public. This office from timely memorial was established for the commissioner of police. But for many years the commissioners of police have not opened the office or held clinic in Belize City where they can see persons from this part of the country. So, who would want to see the commissioner would go to Belmopan office and sometimes that is very much inconvenient to people who have to travel that distance to go and see the commissioner. Belize City being the area of the country that has the greatest population, I believe that its only right that we have an office here in Belize City for the public to be able to have access to the commissioner. The main reason for the office is 1. to ensure that there is easy access to members of the public who may have greievence against the police or who may have ideas thyat they want to bring to the commissioner of police, as well as to police officers who may have welfare issues that they want the police tp address, they can come here and see the commissioner, instead of going all the way to Belmopan."

"No matter what you do in life there will always be persons who have some negative criticism to say and I am not here for the purpose of pleasing those persons who may want to stew negativity. And so I say to those who have that view that my office will also open for them. They can come and see me too."
