90 Year Old Woman Tied Up In Home Invasion
posted (January 31, 2019)

Javier Gonzalez, his mother-in-law and an employee are all lucky to be alive after shots were fired, and a 90 year old woman(!) was tied up in a violent home invasion.

3 men broke into Gonzalez's home, tied up his mother-in-law and waited for him to return. When he and one of his employees pulled into the driveway and began unloading some supplies into a warehouse, the men held them up and attempted to rob them. A struggle ensued and shots were fired - one bullet grazing the employee's face. Police were called to the scene and have been busy tracking the criminals down...

ACP Joseph Myvette - Head, NCIB
"On yesterday's date, Corozal police were called to the home of one Javier Gonzalez in the Santa Rita layout area some time shortly before 2 pm. Upon arrival Mr. Gonzalez reported to them that he arrived at his home sometime after 1:30 pm accompanied by one of his employees. And while he was in the process of unloading some goods into a warehouse that he has there, himself and his employee were accosted by three male persons, one of whom was armed with what appeared to be a firearm whist one was armed with a baseball bat. They were robbed of their personal belongings before those persons made good their escape. We also learnt during the investigation that prior to Mr. Gonzalez' arrival at his home, those persons had already entered his home and had tied up his wife. Police response to the area resulted in the detention of one person and the recovery of several items believed to have been from the burglary. So police investigation into this matter continues whilst we are seeking two other suspects in connection with the investigation."

"Sir, information to us is that the assailants fled after a scuffle in which the employee fought back against one of them and in the process he was also shot in the head. As shot which grazed him. Could you confirm?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"Yes that is the case. Mr. Gonzalez was relieved of his licensed 9 mm pistol and that is the same weapon that was used during the struggle where his employee was grazed."
