Unidentified Man Killed In Hit And Run

And the weekend's third fatal accident happened sometime around 1 a.m. this morning in the Corozal District, near San Joaquin Village.

The body of a Hispanic man, which remains unidentified at this time, was found between miles 78 and 79 on the Philip Goldson Highway. Near him was a black beach cruiser, which he was riding, headed to Libertad Village.

Someone hit him from behind, and left him on the road to die. Today, police told us that they need the public's help to identify him, and the hit and run driver:

"Sometime around 12:20 a.m. this morning, Corozal police were called out to mile 78 and 79 on the Philip Goldson Highway where they observed the body of a Hispanic male who appeared to be motionless with severe head and body injuries. As a result, the scene was processed; one black bicycle was found in the vicinity of where the body was with damage to the back portion of the bicycle. No vehicle was found on the scene and this male person has still not been identified by the police. In this matter we are seeking the public's cooperation in identifying both the driver and the vehicle that was involved in this accident."

Police say that he is of Hispanic Decent, and he appears to be about 5 feet 5 inches in height, and about 160 pounds in weight. He was wearing a light blue shirt, long black pants, and a brown slippers. He appears to be in his 50's.

Anyone with information that can aid in identifying him is asked to contact the nearest police station.
