Bail Denied: Peruvian Cries in Court, Again
posted (February 8, 2019)

He cried in court last week when his bail hearing was adjourned - and today 24 year old alleged bank skimmer Peruvian Louis Marroquin cried again when Justice Herbert Lord denied him bail.

In his ruling Justice Lord said that if no preliminary inquiry is held by the end of March, might consider granting Marroquin bail.

Marroquin's attorney, Dickie Bradley, submitted that Marroquin had no connection to the ATM skimming equipment found with his other co-accused, A Chilean and a Colombian.

Crown Counsel Riis Cattouse objected to bail on the ground that Marroquin has no ties to Belize and that he might abscond if he is granted bail. Justice Lord upheld his objection and denied Marroquin bail.

Marroquin came to Belize as a tourist on January 10. He has a family in Peru and his brother-law came from Peru to assist him. Rene Villanueva, the owner of LOVE FM, who is the Honorary Consul to Peru, was present at the bail hearing. Also present was the Owner of Dibarry in downtown Belize City; he is also a Peruvian. Â
