Cops Charge Hard Into Southside to Recover Weapons
posted (February 12, 2019)
And to recover the stolen weapons - police operational units went charging hard into the Southside this morning.

There was heightened paramilitary type police activity in several parts of the city, including the Queen Square and Mayflower areas.

This morning, concerned residents - who report hearing taser guns going off inside residences - called us to come out and view it for ourselves. The police commissioner told us that these operations were necessary because they had to flush out culprits from the Victor L Bryant burglary, who were hiding in these neighborhoods. Here's how he briefly explained it to us today:

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"One of the suspects in the burglary was hiding out in the Queen Square are and the police had to go and flush him out and he was the one who was found with the drugs that Mr. Vidal spoke of earlier and also recovered from him was 151 - .38 rounds which were also from the Victor L. Bryant burglary. So again, good work on the part of the police in the Queen Square area as well."

Reporter
"The activity in the Mayflower this morning, can you tell us what happened in Mayflower?"

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"I will not go into details. Police did went to Mayflower and some of the firearms and ammunitions were recovered in the Mayflower area or should I say the Bakatown area, which is still considered as Mayflower."

A number of persons were detained - and we'll tell you more about charges tomorrow.
