Police Have Lead In Dwayne’s Murder
posted (February 14, 2019)
At the beginning of the week, we told you about the Orange Walk murder of 20 year-old Dwayne Cummings-Avila.

The UB student was a rising star with a bright future in basketball, but on last Saturday night, someone gunned him down while he was walking home from a game.

He was well-loved by residents of Orange Walk and by his peers, colleagues and teachers at the University of Belize. And, by all appearances, he was a model young man who stayed away from the streets.

So, his murder is shocking to those nearest to him, and they are hoping that the cops will be able to solve it. Well, police told us today that they are currently pursuing a lead which they hope will yield positive results:

Reporter
"Have any police been able to make any progress into that investigation?"

ACP Joseph Myvettte - Head, NCIB
"I would say yes we have because we have been following on several leads where certain information was gathered, and as a result of that, certain materials of evidential value was retrieved, and those were taken to the lab. So, it is just a matter for us to await the lab result whilst we continue with the investigation and follow with other leads."
