Tonight, a man from Unitedville Village in the Cayo District is in a critical condition after he was chopped by an assailant last night.
Best reports to the press are that he was buying food at a vendor in the village when he got into some sort of confrontation with a man. That incident escalated when the man pulled a machete and attacked him with it.

"Last night, shortly before 9 p.m., San Ignacio responded to responded to a chopping incident in Unitedville Village, where upon arrival, they learnt that one Michael Smith was at a shop buying when he obviously had a confrontation with someone who inflicted a chop wound to him. As a result, he was transported to the Western Regional Hospital, and later to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition. Police so far have one person detained, and are seeking one person in respect to this investigation."
