And heading down south to Independence, 3 Chinese Game shop owners where attacked and robbed by a hammer-wielding man. Cops told us more about this incident

"Independence police visited an area where they visited this Chinese game house namely 'Gameshop" where they observed 3 of the proprietors suffering from several injuries to their bodies. They were transported to the southern regional hospital and thereafter one was brought to Belize City. What police gathered so far is that the 3 owners were inside of the game shop when 2 male persons entered and one of them was armed with a hammer and began to inflict injuries to the 3 persons inside of the game shop. There was no one else at the game shop, but the 3 proprietors. An amount of undisclosed of cash was stolen from the business.'

Police have no suspects. Independence residents tell us that police patrol actively during the day, but very little at night. They believe that the criminals are coming from Belize City to commit armed robberies - which have spiked in that area recently.
