Teachers At OW School Stage Sit-out
posted (February 21, 2019)
Students of Bishop Martin High School are tonight unsure whether they will be having normal classes tomorrow, and in the days to come. That's because a contingent of teachers at the school have decided to stage a sit-out as a type of industrial action against school management.

The teachers say that they learned last year that 7 of them have supposedly not been legally employed at the school, even though they've been dutifully working there.

They say that this and other irregularities with their employment was brought to the attention of the principal and the upper management, who promised them that the paperwork would be rectified. They say that they've waited months for this resolution, but all they've been given is promises that it would be fixed.

So, they've taken the stance to force the hand of the school's management to regularize their employment records, or else a large portion of the teaching staff will not return to classes.

This evening, our colleagues from CTV 3 News spoke with the protesting teachers, and here's what they had to say about this unresolved issue with management:

As you heard, there is no clear end to this sit-out by the teachers, which may continue into next week, if the dispute remains unresolved.
