Last week Thursday and Friday, the big news was about PUP City Councillor Micah Goodin - how he sternly scolded the City Administrator - and then got into a shoving match with her handlers.
That was Thursday - and by Friday, the Mayor appeared with all his councillors to say that Gooding had been stripped of his portfolios. The mayor added that it was, quote, "unfortunate" that he could not fire Goodin.
Gooding fired back on Sunday - with a facebook post, saying, quote,
"We campaigned on putting people first but life has only improved for a few special Belizeans.Those that have been awarded private contracts and prestigious positions.
The vast majority of Belizeans remain disenfranchised."
Today, at an opening for Moe's Pizza and Pasta - we asked the Mayor to respond to this characterization that he had betrayed his voters:...

"He posted on facebook that the council resources are being used to enriched a few and that the masses are not being helped out. This is a stabbing criticism against your own council from one of its councillors."
Bernard Wagner, Mayor - Belize City
"The good councillor like I told you last Friday I was hoping that would have taken the time off to really reassessed where he is and take some time off from the business of the council - reflect, to some soul-searching. Unfortunately, he has resorted to a type of game that is not productive and I really do not want to get into a back and forth with the good councillor. I am hoping that cooler heads prevail and that some point down the road he will realize that the party is very destructive, not only for him but down the road for his ambition as a young politician."

"Might he not reasonably argued that he is being denied natural justice. Any person whom a disciplinary action is taken deserve a right to have their side of the story heard."
Bernard Wagner, Mayor - Belize City
"I believe his story has been heard. He has been on social media since last Fridays continuously on and on. So his story has been told. Our story has not been told. I keep those to my chest and I know where the goods are, so I'll continue to keep those to my chest and when I'm ready I'll use it."
The mayor says he has not been in contact with councillor Gooding and that the councillor needs time to reassess and he's giving him the space.
