Constable Complaint Calls For Criminal Charges; ComPol Waffles
posted (February 27, 2019)
And we go now back to yesterday's police press briefing in Belmopan. It was all about crime in the south, but we still asked the commissioner about other police matters of pressing public interest.

That includes the complaint made by Constable Marco Hinds against a senior officer. Hinds reported that the police inspector assaulted him and burst his head. And he requested court action. Well, Williams says both sides of the story have to be considered. He also re-iterated that he doesn't play 'favorite's' with his cops.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"That matter is still under investigation. We need to look at both sides to see to what extend if any Mr. Hinds may have been culpable as well as to look at the officers involvement in terms of what he did. And I know that Channel 7 reported that the officer involved is an ally of the commissioner. I want to sound it out very loud to the public and to Channel 7 that every police officer are allies of the commissioner because each of them work for me and to have made such a statement, I don't know what was the reason behind it. But for me in the discharge of my duties, it has nothing to do with friendship, it has nothing to do with relative it has to do with doing what I know I should do so I just want to make that clear."

We'll keep following this story.
