Ministry of Works Goes On Public Relations Press
posted (February 28, 2019)
And, keeping it in the west, the Ministry of Works went on a public relations full court press yesterday. They took major flak last week when UDP preferred contractor Imer Hernandez signed a 20 million dollar contract to finish the Western Highway up to Santa Elena.

So, the Minister of Works and his CEO yesterday toured and inspected ongoing infrastructure works on the George Price Highway - including the new Roaring Creek Bridge and the widening of the famous deadman curve outside Camalote. Though the project is over-budget and behind schedule, they said the end product will be quality and a really high road:..

Errol Gentle, CEO- Works
"We are a bit delayed and for numerous reasons, but the quality is there. We have absolutely no problem with getting quality for money. I think when this project is completed, but the bridge and the highway - it will be a massive improvement in moving our vehicular traffic along the George Price Highway."

Hon. Rene Montero, Minister of Works
"It is actually 11 feet higher than the present bridge. So there is no flooding and at no time we will have that bridge under waters. It is a bridge guaranteed for 100 years."

Errol Gentle, CEO- Works
"We are building not only a safe road, but we are building a climate resilient road. I will still call it the famous Z-curve and we know how narrow it use to be. We know we had problems there, there not only traffic congestion, but also there were some accident along that this area. But now with the widening of this road, there will absolutely be no problem coming along this road."

Hon. Rene Montero, Minister of Works
"It will have pedestrian crossing especially near the schools and any clinics around the place."
