City Cops Look For Killer
posted (March 4, 2019)
Police have been investigating, but say that at this time they have no motive and no suspect:

ASP Alejandro Cowo - OC, CIB Belize City
"On Saturday, the 2nd of March, 2019, just at about 6:30 a.m., police were called to Reggae Street, where upon arrival, they observed a male person lying face down inside of a drain. The person had gunshot injuries to his body. The police processed the scene were expended shells were found, and thereafter, the body was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. What police gathered so far is that the male person that was found inside of the drain was identified as Walter Lyndon Beaton, a 45 year-old Belizean of a Reggae Street address. What we know is that Mr. Beaton had arrived at home, onboard his white Kia vehicle, and as he was about to enter his yard, he was fired upon, which caused his fatal injuries."

"What can you share with us in terms of a possible motive for this particular homicide?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"We don't have any motive, and that is something that we are trying to establish at this moment."

Reporter
"Was the shooter inside the yard?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo "We suspect that he was inside of the yard."

Reporter
"Sir, anything pointing to Mr. Beaton being involved in any gang-related activity, any association?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo "All we know is that he is a taxi driver, that he works out at Euphrates. I know that yes, he is known to police. He has been involved several times, however, there is no direct thing to point out a motive as to why he was shot."

Beaton was believed to have been shot many hours before his body was found in the drain.
