Joan Sharen Gabourel was laid to rest in her favorite colored casket on Saturday night. Her mother, Marinela Garcia never thought she would bury her pregnant 18 year old daughter. It's almost surreal, and the anguish palpable.

"I don't know how to come out from this because I feel angry, I feel, I can't explain how I feel. I just feel like grab my heart and pull it out of my chest but I don't know how long it will take to come out of this."

Joan Gabourel had gone missing on Tuesday night. She told her mom she was going to assist a classmate with a parent's night fundraising event but she never arrived.

"Apparently, she never made it to the friends home, at first my mom thought she made it and she stayed for the sleep over and thing right but then the following day my sister who goes to the school too asked for Joan and they told her Joan was not at school and she came back and told my mom and that is when she start worry and start look for her."

A villager had told Garcia that he saw her pass by on this street around 7:00 that Tuesday night.

The family made the official missing persons report on Thursday the 28th.. Family and friends went searching for Gabourel in the village but it turned up nothing until Saturday afternoon

When the search team scoured a bushy lot next to this corn field on the Valley of Peace road. This area is right behind the family yard where a relative lives. Gabourel's nude decomposed body was thrown here in the bushes.

"Really, who found her was one of my sons named Nelson and my common law husband named Randolph Galvez, he found my daughter."

"Then he is coming with my son but the face he was bringing I wasn't …the way he went and come back he didn't have a good look on his face and he came close to me and I say you find him noh and he say no, I want talk, I tell him you find her because the face you took this morning to when you came back, you have a face like you see the devil and he come and his tears started to fall and he said yes I found her. I told him you found her alive ? and he said no we found her dead."

The post mortem was done on site and the results show that Gabourel was killed on Tuesday night. She had been stabbed multiple times and chopped to the head. Her throat was slashed and she was also bludgeoned. It is a ghastly end for a teenaged girl.

There are a couple theories surrounding her killing, one involves the relative who lives in the yard in front of the bushy area where Gabourel was found. Our information is that police found blood stained female clothing, a slipper and a pair of cloth gloves in his yard. They also found more blood-stained clothing inside his washroom at his house. The relative has been detained. Garcia admits that the relative was acting strange when she and her search team went to look for Gabourel near his yard.

"The reaction from him was that he start to tremble."

"So I tell him I will put some people in the land to search the land and he like he got more aggressive and he started to say a lot of things."

Garcia told us she isn't very close to the relative but says they don't have any issues. Another lead suggests that a village stalker might have been involved in her murder. Relatives told us that on several occasions, a man would follow Gabourel and even stand and stare at her and her sisters while they would be in their yard.

"My mind just go like maybe someone like her and she didn't like the person and he hurt her but I don't really know but that is what comes to my mind."

But whatever the motive is and whoever the killer is, the family just wants her daughters murder solved.

"I just want justice, I don't care if it is family, I just want to find out who hurt my daughter."

Gabourel was 17 weeks pregnant. She leaves behind a 1 year old daughter. The family is hosting a memorial service tonight at their Valley of Peace residence. The family is pleading to the residents of Valley of Peace to call police or Garcia at 620-8063 if they have any information that can help in Gabourel's murder case.
