Alleged Border Robber Zandon Myers Showed Up To Police Station Day After Robbery?
posted (March 7, 2019)
On Monday's news, we told you about the 4 men who police charged for the daring early-morning armed robbery at the Corozal Border.

Police say that 29 year-old Eugene Myers, 23 year-old Zandon Myers, 23 year-old Randolph Crawford, and 21 year-old Joshua Hall were among the group of 6 men who went to the border on Thursday morning, and robbed the money changers of over $15,000 in various currencies.

They are all at the Belize Central Prison on a bevy of criminal charges, but the mother of Zandon Myers is alleging that police wrongly charged him for this incident. She asserts that Zandon was not a part of the crime, and that police detained him on Friday, when he went to the police station to sign in. He was on bail for a charge, and as a requirement, he was supposed to report to the station. He did so, and according to his mother, that's when Corozal police held him, and to hear her tell it, they are now unfairly trying to pin this crime on him.

She granted an interview to our colleagues from CTV3 News, and here's what she had to say:

Jean Myers, Mother of Accused
"Actually my son was already and he only came in to sign. That was the Friday afternoon about 12:30 and I got a call right after that he was detained. So as a parent I made my way down to the station and ask to investigate why he was detained and the officer told me that he was detained for PI for 48 hours. Was something that most naturally pending PI - there is no charge to that. All of a sudden now, they didn't even give me more than half an hour to walk through the door as to pin my son to this robbery case. I want to know what is the problem and what is it that these officers have against my son. I just want the media and the public to know that my son was detained when he went into sign. So I want you to put it together. If this robbery took place on Thursday and they were stating that they had all the robbers, all of a sudden how comes my son become part of this robbery. It was I could say pinned on him, but there is a God above and I want to tell the officer or whoever that is in this game, I have faith and I will come to pass."
