Police Work On Complicated Case

Today at the bi-weekly press briefing police gave their report on this case. The cops are still figuring out how to proceed with charges against the alleged killer, Alexander Ruiz. Here is more.

"Yesterday, sometime around 6 p.m., Punta Gorda Police responded to an information at the Punta Gorda Hospital, where they observed a Hispanic male, who was motionless at the time. He was learnt to be one Luis Cabrera, 18 years of a Punta Gorda Town address. Initial investigation so far has revealed that Cabrera was socializing at a bar in Punta Gorda, when he seemingly had a misunderstanding with one Alexander Ruiz, who, during the altercation, broke a bottle and inflicted 1 stab wound to Cabrera. He was then transported to the Punta Gorda Town Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police later responded to an information, sometime around 6:20 p.m. on the Southern Highway near the junction with the San Antonio Road. Upon arrival, a motorcycle was seen on the right side of the road extensively damaged. Police learnt that the motorcycle at the time was being driven by Alexander Ruiz, 27 years of Trio Village. And with him, was his passenger, William Garcia, 32 years, who observed motionless at the scene of the accident. He was later pronounced dead. Ruiz, at this point in time, is under police guard at the Southern Regional Hospital, undergoing treatment."

"He seemingly lost control of the cycle, as he did not collide into- The actual collision was into a utility poll."

"Is it believed that these men were under the influence of alcohol?"

"Well, they were drinking, both parties."

"On his release, the guy who is still hospitalized, based on investigation will he be charged for the death of the stabbing victim and the guy who died on the motorbike?"

ACP Joseph Myvette
"Well, at this point in time, the investigation will have to be done in order for us to determine that. He may, in both cases, pending the outcome of the investigation."
