Drinker Drowned

A 62 year-old man from Duck Run Village, located near Spanish Lookout in the Cayo District, drowned this weekend under unexplained circumstances. 

Alvaro Molina went out with his brother on Friday night to look for his nephew who was fishing in the River that passes near their village. But, instead, they the brothers started drinking, and for a brief moment, Molina slipped away - never to be seen alive again. Sometime later, they found his lifeless body in the river.

"On Friday night, sometime after 11 p.m., San Ignacio Police was called to the Belize River in the Duck Run area, in an area known as “Mennonite Beachâ€￾, where upon their arrival, they observed the body of an elderly Hispanic male, later identified as Alvaro Molina, 62 years-old of Duck Run Village. According to his brother, he and the deceased had gone in search of his nephew, how was fishing. And in the process, whilst being out there, they began consuming alcohol. Sometime around 11 p.m., whilst he was looking for his brother, he was nowhere to be found. And upon searching the area of the river, his brother was seen floating in the river. That is when he was taken out of the water, and the officers were called to the area."
