Two childhood friends were executed on La Isla Bonita this afternoon. They are 34 year old Allen Martinez also known as Spoon and 40 year old Deon Faber. According to our information, both men were at Faber's house. Faber was outside while Martinez was inside. Faber then ran to the house and shouted "gunman" and that is when the masked shooter opened fire. Martinez was struck to the neck and shoulder and Faber was hit to the back, chest and forearm. Police found Martinez's body in the kitchen while Faber's was in one of the bedrooms. Courtney Weatherburne returned from San Pedro an about an hour ago and here is what she found out on the ground.
This evening Boca Del Rio residents teamed up to wash away the blood from the pavement - the scene for a double homicide.
Allen Martinez and his friend Deon Faber were both shot and killed this afternoon around 1:30
In front of a welding shop. There isn't an official report as to what happened but residents say they saw the two men walk behind the welding shop, and that's when they heard gunshots. A resident told us that it seemed like Martinez and Faber were set up because a woman and two men came in a taxi wanting to buy weed and that is when the men were shot.
Martinez and Faber were then raced to the San Pedro polyclinic but they didn't make it. Shocked residents and relatives gathered at the clinic
We spoke to Martinez's older brother about this tragedy.
Joseph Martinez - Allen Martinez Brother
"For the most part of it he was a loving father who took care of his home. I mean of course people would paint him bad because of his selling of marijuana, stuff like that - but for the most part he was a loving and kind person. I mean he no try hurt anybody or anything like that as far as we know, so this came as a shock to us because we still try to wrap our head around exactly what happened and further than that we don't know, we haven't gotten any information to the exact details of what happened probably because they are still investigating - I'm not sure."

"Residence in the area, police, nobody has given you anything?"
Joseph Martinez
"Police, nobody has given us anything as yet. I believe just because of again the investigation is going forward."

"Do you know if he was hanging out there with the other guy who was shot with him?"
Joseph Martinez
"I'm not sure at the moment. All I know is that they both got shot at the same area, other than that I have no other information."

"At this point you can't say who would want to target your brother and Mr. Faber?"
Joseph Martinez
"Actually no because this is just out of the blues - again, I didn't know him for having any trouble or anyone who would want to hurt both of them to that extent."

"Finally for me, how painful it is for you as a brother and we have his wife right here and leaving his children behind."
Joseph Martinez
"It's very painful because he has a young son and we have to explain this to him, he might not understand. It's just painful; we just have to try make sense out of what happened."
Seven 9mm slugs were found on the scene. Martinez - who had been shot 6 years ago on San Pedro leaves behind a 9 year old son. Both Martinez and Faber are originally from Belize City but have been living on San Pedro for many years.
