And while the Commissioner had very strong words for Corporal Arzu and his supporters, he had zero words of censure for three police officers - who are on the police association executive. Secretary, Corporal Jermaine Hyde, treasurer Corporal Jane Usher and board member PC Holman Katenegie broke protocol last week when they put out a signed press release to say that Arzu did not have their support in any legal action taken to court. And while police officers are not allowed to engage the press freely - quite remarkably Williams said he approved their release:..

"It is not common practice in the police department fpr any officer without getting permission from you to address the media. We are talking about these specific officers they address the media via they have a press release. Are you then saying that they got permission from you, because that's not the practice of the department and if so if they did not get permission from you, one would think reasonably that disciplinary actions will be taken against them."

"Before the press release was sent out, it was brought to my attention and permission was sought from me. I read it and I had no issue with it."

"There would be the perception out there that the reason why you granted permission for that release to be release on their behalf, is because basically they ended up having your back in this entire thing."

"They don't have my back. They have the back of the people who elected them and we must understand that. This is not about me. I am not a paying member of the association, but I have an interest to ensure that all the police officers of this department, best interest is looked after and what they are asking for is reasonable. I don't see them putting out nothing that brings the department into disrepute. As a matter pf fact, one of those persons happened to be the treasurer of the association. Now you all would know the duties of a treasurer is an association or union is the person who controls the account of that association or union. In this case Miss Usher is the treasurer, but the self-made chairman refused to hand over to the elected treasurer the accounts of the association. Now how could you tell the treasurer that she cannot be on the account, not even to put her name on the bank account where she could be a signature to the account. Not even that. That cannot work."
