Courtney Weatherburne reporting
This morning Hermelindo Ical's relatives were searching in the grass for one of his fingers. It was severed in a violent chopping episode. They didn't find it but earlier this morning around 5:00, another resident found Ical's mutilated body thrown here on the side of the road.

"I was awakened by a friend who says he saw a body laying down on the street side and he said it looks to him like it is one of our family so I had to get up and see where he is laying down and then we came down I see he is my brother. We were very sad to see him with a large cut wound to his head and he was chopped many times on his body and."

It was a ghastly attack and no one seems to know exactly what happened. According to the Maya Secret Bar owner, Ical was at the bar with relatives around 6:30 but left shortly after.

"One round of beer they buy, the group of family and they left."

"No issues, no fight, no confrontation, everything was chill?"

Evangelisto Chiac, Bar Owner
"Yes , nothing, nothing."

Courtney Weatherburne:
"So you have no idea what might have happened ? where this happened? no idea?"

Evangelisto Chiac, Bar Owner
"We don't know, nobody alarm us, nobody because normally when they get into hard talk, I get them out."

Residents also say they didn't hear any commotion late last night or early this morning.

"For that period of time we didn't hear anything, that was like 1:00 or after 1:00, we didn't hear anything so if anything happen it would be more down or come from somewhere else, but definitely sure in the night I saw a lot of guys nice up."

Sipriano Ical, Brother
"The way we believe, the police told us that he must be killed somewhere on the road side and then they dumped him over there so that is what we believe because we went to check the place and we didn't see much blood on the spot."

Now Ical's family and friends are left wondering if it was a drunken brawl or an isolated misunderstanding that led to their loved one's gruesome killing.

"He is not a trouble maker, he is a cool guy, he is always around with friends, walking around with friends, drinking with friends but we don't know if he has problem on the street all I know he is a cool guy."

Courtney Weatherburne:
"So do you think it was as a result of a drunken brawl, he was drunk, he got into a fight with someone since you don't believe he has any beef with anyone?"

Sipriano Ical, Brother
"Well he likes to drink maybe he might find some problem in drinking but that is the first time that I hear that he is killed there because all the time he gets home late in the night, he will get there, no matter how late but he will get there but this time he didn't get there so that makes us worried."

He didn't have any children.
