The Mysterious Death of a WPC
posted (April 3, 2019)

Woman Police Constable Sherlett Andrews died in the hospital last week Thursday under questionable circumstances.  The 47 year old was definitely ill, but what made her so?  She claimed it was insecticide they sprayed in the mold and insect filled Magistrate's court cell.  Today, the Commissioner of Police addressed the issue of her untimely passing:

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"The matter with Ms. Andrews, her death is a great loss to us. I knew her personally and she had been at the courts for quite some time. I just want you to understand that the cell that is being spoken of is not the cell at the police station but at the magistrate court. Apparently there was some mold or infestation at the cell block and the magistracy brought in the exterminators to go in and spray the cell to be able to rid it of the mold and apparently after that was done, Ms. Andrews might have gone in the area of the cell and may have inhaled the chemical and resulted in her becoming ill, I can't say at this time what is the cause of death, I have been given the results of the post mortem so while we know there was a complaint from her that she had fallen sick after inhaling the chemical we still need to look at the results of the post mortem to confirm the definitive cause of  death. But after that complaint was mad Ms. Andrews went to the hospital she reported sick and she was granted sick days and she was removed from the courts to work in another area and she went to an attorney, she was not happy that she was moved from the courts so she obtained the services of an attorney who wrote to the commissioner on her behalf stating that her transfer from prosecution branch was unfair and is requesting that she be placed back at the court. i responded to the attorneys letter and agreed with him that to have removed her was unfair because the court has other areas she could have worked other than the cell block and so I wrote and directed the commander of prosecution branch to take her back at the court but as a court orderly so she will not be exposed to the cell block area where the chemical was sprayed, unfortunately a couple weeks later she fell ill again and was taken to the hospital where she eventually died very sadly."

Andrews had an adopted daughter.  Her funeral will be held on Friday.
