And keeping it on San Pedro, Island cops have made no arrests in an aggravated burglary, which happened at the Sapphire Beach Resort early on Tuesday morning.

It's a high end resort 10 miles north of the town, and armed men targeted the place - but it only had two guests, a Canadian couple. Police told us more:...

ASP Alejandro Cowo - OC, CIB Belize City
"On Tuesday, the 2nd of April, 2019, just after 1:30 in the morning, San Pedro police visited Sapphire Resort, located 10 miles north of San Pedro Town. Upon Arrival at the said location, they conducted and inspection of the area, where they observed Mr. Oani Augustine, 29 year-old Belizean security guard, inside of an unfinished house, handcuffed to the back. He was seen with injuries to the head. He was assisted by police, and thereafter, they made checks inside of a concrete structure, at the lower flat of the building, where they observed 2 Canadian nationals: Mr. Joseph and Marilyn Triano, 58 and 53 years-old. Mr. Joseph Triano was observed with injuries to his body, which were minor. What police have gathered so far is that the security guard was working at the said resort, when they were approached by 4 persons, 3 males, and 1 female, dressed in full black clothing, and were covering their faces with rags. They subdued the security guard, tied him up, and they took him inside of one of the unfinished building. Thereafter, they proceeded, and they burglarized the restaurant, where they stole a small amount of cash, and thereafter, they proceeded open the room where Mr. Joseph and Mrs Marilyn were sleeping. Both of them were inside of the room, and as a result, a small amount of cash was stolen from them, and also, the 3 persons and the female left on a golf cart and a motorcycle that belonged to the company, the resort, and golf cart was a rental from one of the companies in San Pedro. Police recovered the golf art on Barrier Reef Drive, and the motorcycle, 6 miles north of San Pedro. So far, nobody has been detained for this incident."

"Might this just be outlaws who were stuck on the north side and needed a way to get back to town?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"I don't be that they were just stuck. I believe that they went with the intention to commit a crime. We know that 1 was armed with a firearm, another was with a fire knife."

Police have a fixed patrol in that remote area.
