PUP Wants Its House Papers
posted (April 10, 2019)
Now, given the timing, this can be interpreted as some deliberate act of provocation - and depending on where you stand on the ICJ issue it's either a reason to surely vote yes, and define those borders once and for all, or to clearly vote no and not leave the matter of Belize's territory to any court.

You didn't get a chance to cast that vote today because of the postponed referendum, but government is determined to do it as soon as possible., And that's why they are going to the House of Representatives on Friday and the Senate on Monday.

But, the PUP is complaining tonight that they have don't know what they are going to the house for. The party sent a release this evening saying that it today held a meeting of its Parliamentary Caucus…quote, "without receiving any of the usual documents, resolutions or bills that are normally issued in advance of a sitting of the National Assembly." A release says, quote, "The Party's Parliamentary Caucus considers it undemocratic and highly inappropriate that the Government would not provide members of Parliament with the order papers, which is usually accompanied by proposed bills, resolutions and other matters to be discussed, which would allow members to properly prepare for Friday's House Sitting."

It is expected that Government will be drafting those papers up to the last minute it is expected.
