In December of last year, we told you about the rock band, Ascenthium. This a group of 6 local musicians who are based mostly in San Ignacio, and who specialize in rock and heavy metal genres of music.
They've been together for 9 years now, and after enjoying underground success, they're hoping to turn their favorite hobby into a mainstream, commercially successful enterprise. They've entered a major international music competition called Wacken Open Air. Rock and Heavy metal bands from all over the world converge at this competition annually to compete among themselves to find out which band is the best of the best.
The international primaries for this competition takes place on April 27th in Panama City, and to cover the expense of getting themselves there, Ascenthium is putting together a grand music concert at the Belize City Civic Center, which takes place tomorrow night. They're teaming up with Verge of Umbra, the Belizean Metal Band which was the first make a make a major international splash at Wacken 2 years ago, and the Mexican band, Jet Jaguar, who managed to become 2017 Wacken World Champions.
Ascenthium is hoping that Belizeans will come out and support them on this trip to Wacken, and this evening at the Civic, we got a chance to speak with them about tomorrow night's show.
