"What police gather so far is that Monday the 8th of April, he left with family and friends to go fishing and while he was at the fishing camp, it was reported that he began to behave in a certain way and the persons he was along with were concerned of his condition and as a result on Thursday they decided to bring him back to Dangriga town and while he was inside of a boat he began to behave out of control so they had to subdue him, while he was being subdued he jump out of the boat into the water. The persons who were coming along with him tried to save him but were unable to do so as a result they came and made a report to the police in Dangriga where they went along with Coast Guard personnel and they canvassed the entire area but the person was not located. Unfortunately on Saturday just after midday family members and other civilians were in an area near Coco Plum Island where they saw the body floating, the body was retrieved and was brought to Belize City for a post mortem examination. Later on in the evening, the post mortem was conducted and the doctors certified that the cause of death was consistent with drowning due to the inhalation of liquids."

Lammey's family says he has no history of mental illness. Police have taken samples to test for drug use.
