An American man in Punta Gorda has gone on an all out war against law enforcement in Punta Gorda in general and a specific customs officer. American Guillermo Ortiz has made a complaint to the Ombudsman about a senior Customs Officer who is also the officer in charge of Customs in PG. And more than that he's put out an 11 minute video making all kinds of claims against the customs officer and police officers.
He secretly recorded the customs officer who was cursing him out and threatening to send him back to Jalacte. Just seeing that abusive exchange, you would say the customs officer is way out of line - but we're told there's a lot more to the story. Turns out Ortiz had been dealing with customs for months trying to get past some problems, and the expletive-laden conversation appeared to have come at the end of an exasperating back and forth with Ortiz - who, it can be gathered from the video, isn't the easiest guy to deal with. It ended with the customs officer making a police complaint against him - which fell apart in court.
Ortiz remains in PG - and the two now have a case at the Supreme Court.
