Tonight, the Corozal resident, Byron Chu, who owns the Maya World Guest House in North Corozal Town, is hospitalized at the KHMH after he was found severely beaten inside his business place this morning.

The cops were called to the guest house, which is located on 2nd Street, and when they arrived they found him unconscious on the floor bleeding profusely from severe injuries. The cops don't yet know why he was attacked, and this morning, they discussed the preliminary information they have about the incident at a press briefing. Here's what they know at this time:

ASP Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Belize City
"On Today's date, Corozal Police visited Maya World Guesthouse located on Second Street North, Corozal Town, where upon arrival it was reported to them that the owner, Mr. Byron Chu, was observed laying in the kitchen of the house with severe injuries to his body. He was bleeding profusely and was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital. I was made to understand that he is on his way to the K.H.M.H. because of the degree of injuries that he received. So far police is in the area; they have checked the establishment and there is no sign of breaking into the building. We have not established if anything was stolen. All that we have is that he was inside his residence at about five in the morning when persons entered and attacked him. We cannot tell at this moment if anything was stolen or anything is missing from the said establishment."
