Patrons Turned Thieves

7 hours after that robbery in San Ignacio, Benque Viejo police had to respond to another armed robbery at Lighthouse Restaurant, which is located on the Border Road.

At around 9:00 on Tuesday night, 2 men went to the restaurant and pretended that they were there to buy food. While the owner was preparing it, one of them pulled out a weapon and demanded that he hand over whatever money he had. As we told you, the owner complied, and the robbers left with the stolen cash, along with 4 orders of fried chicken and a coke.

Police shared more information on the case today:

"On that same Tuesday, at about a quarter to 9, Benque police visited border road, where they visited Lighthouse Restaurant. They spoke to the proprietor, Mr. Zing Hua Zheng, 38 years-old Belizean. He reported that whist he was inside of the restaurant along with another person, 2 male persons of Hispanic descent again entered the restaurant, pretending to be purchasing food items. Whilst they were inside of the shop, a male person pointed a firearm, and demanded money from them. As a result, he handed over a small amount of cash, and also, the person left with 4 friend chickens from the establishment. Fortunately, no one was injured. After, the male persons made good their escape. No one was detained, and police is looking at the description of the male persons."
