Businesses Beware Of Patrons Turned Thieves
posted (April 18, 2019)
So, as you'll have noticed, all of these robberies share 1 similar element. The thieves showed up and pretended to be legitimate customers, so that they could catch the business owners with their guard down.

Since the Easter holiday is upon us, police are asking business owners to be especially vigilant of customers inside their establishments, because those customers may just be robbers in disguise.

Here's what advice they had today for the business community, so that they can hopefully avoid becoming victims to thieves looking for a holiday "come up":

ASP Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Belize City
"We have been advising business owners that they must be careful and must be vigilant as to persons entering their business establishment; to pay keen attention to them and also not to have a large quantity of cash with them in the store. If you are a business owner and you know that during the day you have sold an x amount of goods and you have an x amount of cash, you should find somewhere to store it and don't' leave it inside your shop. Also, they must be very observant as to who is entering their business establishment. We have noticed that most of these businesses that have been robbed, these persons have been previously in the business to monitor the situation and then later on they come back to commit the robberies."
