Man Run Over Near us Terminal, Succumbs to Injury

We move now to the city where there was an accident on Easter Sunday near the Michael Finnegan Market that claimed the life a Belize City man.

He's been identified our news room as George Baptist, aka "Indian". On Sunday, he was on the side of the street on East Canal, in the view of the market when he was hit by a grey car. The car ran him over, and dragged his body a short distance. Concerned bystanders had to rush over and collectively lift up the vehicle to pull him out from under it. He was rushed to the KHMH, and we've confirmed with the authorities there that he passed away while undergoing treatment for his injuries.

Police told us that they have arrested someone:

"There was also the incident in Belize City near the bus terminal where a person was knocked down and he eventually succumbed to his injuries as a result of that incident. What we know is that the individual was inside a restaurant and when he came out, a vehicle came and hit him on his way out. The driver claimed to have realized he had hit the person. That person has been charged and the person is Christian Villafranco and he has been charged with manslaughter by negligence causing death my careless conduct and drove motor vehicle without due care and attention."
