Suspended Sentence For Sexual Assault
posted (April 23, 2019)
He tried to cop a feel on an 36 year-old woman, and so tonight, 45 year-old Andy Garcia, a maintenance worker from Belize City, is at risk of spending 6 months at the Belize Central Prison for a sexual assault conviction.

The victim told police that it happened on Easter Sunday. She reported that Garcia fondled her, even after she told him not to, and to leave her alone. She added that Garcia insulted her and called her the dreaded "B" word after she confronted him for sexually assaulting her.

Garcia was arrested and charged with the offenses of sexual assault, common assault and using insulting words. He was arraigned today before Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer, and he did not waste the court's time when he pleaded guilty to the sexual assault and using insulting words charges. The common assault charge was withdrawn since it was determined that it was duplicitous.

Since it was his first offense, Chief Magistrate Frazer gave him 6 months prison sentence that is to be suspended for 1 year. That means that Garcia must not be charged with any other criminal offenses for an entire year, or else, he will be sent to jail to serve that 6 months. He was also fined $100 for the insulting words charge.
