Agric Will Be Safe, Police Say
posted (April 23, 2019)
At the top of the news, we showed you the Police Commissioner's assessment of how his officer performed this weekend to keep the country mostly crime free for the Easter holiday. Well, the annual Agriculture and Trade Show is coming up this weekend, and police want to ensure that everyone who attend the event will be safe.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Marco Vidal discussed how his officers will attempt to replicate this weekend's crime fighting success by setting up vehicular checkpoints and maintaining heavy presence at the showgrounds.

ACP Marco Vidal- Commander of Operations
"The security that will be in place is one that is not unusual in terms of our officers deployed on the ground. But aside from officers on the ground, we will also have technology to assist them. We will also have vehicular checkpoints along the route because of the fact that people when they leave the area or when they are coming into the area, they might be speeding or consuming alcoholic beverages. So we have that in place. The safe highway operation continues and that will be incorporated right into the National Agricultural and Trade Show activity. But in terms of the security within the grounds, we will have our increased numbers. We know the areas that are vulnerable. As a matter of fact, the commissioner and I just came from the grounds to revisit and see what areas we need to cover. But certainly we will be with a big force out there and on high alert. We will be bringing in the specialized units to assist in the security on the grounds."

Over the years, there have been a number of accidents and violent crimes on and near the show grounds.
