posted (April 25, 2019)
When you talk about MMA you immediately think of UFC - it is the largest MMA promotion company in the world. Fighters like Ronda Rousey, Amanda Nunez, Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier come to mind. Well PRO FC in Belize want to try their hand in professional MMA fighting on a smaller scale of course. PRO FC is hosting a 12 fight MMA event in Orange Walk this Saturday. The president Israel Vasquez along with two experienced MMA fighters came to our studios to talk about this big fight night.

Israel Vasquez, President and CEO, PRO FC
"PRO FC is doing Suga City fight night in Orange Walk. It is the first big MMA event in Orange Walk. We have a line up of 12 MMA fights headlined by a championship match between Kristian Usher of Belize and Jonathon Chitan from Guatemala, it is a 145 weight division so the Guatemalan's are coming in, we have 3 Guatemalans coming in, they are headlining the event."

"We also have one big female MMA match. It is the first ever in Belize, first time ever we will see a big female match, It is 170 pounds so these girls are big, they are going to be fighting Ajee….from Belize from prevail combat club she is fighting …Delgado from Cancun so they are heading down. So it is going to be a very exciting event, MMA is a growing sport and it is a young sport in Belize we are trying to get the word out for people to learn more about what MMA is and how it works."

Kristian Usher, MMA Fighter
"I have been fighting for probably 6 to 7 years, as Israel I started to lose weight, I started then I stopped, I saw the first fight the guys had and I said I can do that because they are the same guys I train against so I pick it up and I first start with Ju Jit-su then I love it and then my sensei Alex got me more involved in that and I started to excel in that."

"This is actually my 2nd title fight so yeah."

Alex Marin, American MMA Fighter
"I am super excited to be here, leaving home and coming abroad and putting my name out there and for these guys and fighting someone from another country, it is so exciting it is a dream come true like I said I didn't think I would be doing things like this I just wanted to have fun and move forward."
