Lennox Lamb Left Off List
posted (May 2, 2019)
Lennox Lamb is a student of politics, and an activist - and so when re-registration started in July, he was there to re-register on day one.

With that early re-registration in Caribbean Shores, he was sure all was in order for the May eighth referendum. But, when he went to make a check on Tuesday - he got a most unexpected surprise: he wasn't on the list.

Lamb told us what happened next.

Lennox Lamb, Re-registration Application Lost
"June 2nd I went to register, like I normally do. I want to be the first one to register. On Tuesday a friend of mine ask me to do a proxy, so I said let me go and get my ID to make sure everything is okay. When I went to the elections and boundaries about 3:30pm in the evening I told them I came for my card and I showed them the receipt and everything. They started looking, they could not find the card. They ask me what other name it could be under. I say it could be under no other name but my name. They ask me for my mother's maiden name. I gave them her maiden name and then they start moving a little faster and then I was told we have nothing for you, all we find is your signature and a copy of your passport. The bio data list and your photograph is missing. They start panicking moving around. I ask them will I be able to vote and they said no and I said to them it will be an issue - that we will be to court on Thursday because I will be on that list. The supervisor very nicely took me into her office and she spoketo me. She says its our fault, something is wrong, but we will do the process. So they were able to take by bio data and my picture, they went to verify where I live and she told me that they will get me registered."

"So you were re-registered on Tuesday April 30th?"

Lennox Lamb
"Yes. which is a good thing. I am not in any disappointed or angry with that and that's why I didn't say anything to anyone, because most important I want to be able to exercise my right. What I found very strange is how is it that all my information just went missing out of the office? Nobody call, no reconciliation was done on their behalf, because I was the 14th person to re-register on that day. When you look in the log book you see where 13 was missing in the log book, so they did nothing. So I'll be begging Belizeans to please go and get your card and not only get your card, but to check the list to see if you are there. Not because you went to re-register means that you are on that list."
