Since December 2012, Lionel Arzu has been serving as Belize’s Ombudsman, and this morning at the Belize House, Arzu was sworn back into office.
Arzu is the third Ombudsman to be appointed to the office since the office was first created in 1999. His predecessors were Paul Rodriguez and Cynthia Pitts.
The office of the Ombudsman is responsible for receiving and investigating complaints by members of the public who claim injustice, injury, abuse or any other wrong doing by any public authority.Â
