"If we get a yes vote, the country gets a yes vote, we go to the national assembly within a week, week and a half to amend the maritime areas act and then we lodge our notification, if I can call it that, with the ICJ. Then time starts to run as I understand it long stretches of time in terms of the Guatemalans memorializing their case. I think they have a year after our notification is in. Then we have a year to respond and then they have 6 months to reply and then we have another 6 months. Of course they can as it were compressed the time, but if they choose to use the full extent that permitted them, this thing can take as long as 3 years before you get an actual hearing and thereafter there is still going to be time for the consideration of the decision."
