A father of 3 was killed in an accident on Saturday evening. 37 year old Charles Usher the III was driving to Boom to pick up his fiancé when apparently there was some mechanical failure and Usher's vehicle flipped and ended up on the side of the road. Courtney Weatherburne has more.

Courtney Weatherburne reporting
Charles Usher the III was the head of security at Dream Valley Resort in Teakettle.

He lived here at the entrance of the resort. On his days off, he and his father would work together on his farm - it was their bonding time.

"My son just had a big farm, he just started, he had about 650 coconut trees and 300 lime trees planted and I used to go and help him and I was showing him and he doesn't know much about farming and I was showing him how to grow his plants and that keep us close all the time."

But those farm days will never be the same again. Usher was killed in an accident on Saturday evening. He was heading to Boom pick up his fiancé. Usher stopped in at his father's house before he hit the road.

Charles Usher II, Father
"When he came here he came around 4, that same Saturday and no I didn't see him because I was sleeping but he usually goes to wake me up to tell me he is going so but that evening he told his mother that he won't wake me up, he will let me rest and he went. He did a little errand in Belmopan, he went to the ATM to get money and continue his journey yeah."

But something went wrong on the way near mile 19 in Hattieville.

"What happened, some people say because I did not see but they say the vehicle was going and the sudden one there was big ball of smoke and after the smoke come up then the vehicle overturn."

Usher's parents found out about the accident later on in the evening.

Charles Usher II, Father
"I have a son in police in Corozal and the police call him and then he call us an inform us and my wife almost pass out."

But it is a reality the family has to live with, no matter how painful.

Usher leaves 3 children behind. He had been a police officer for about 5 years.

He appeared to have not been wearing a seatbelt and was found 72 feet away from his vehicle.
