Yesterday police made big weed and gun busts. A team of GSU, SPU, and MIT officers conducted an operation on the South Side of Belize City. They searched an abandoned house which resulted in the discovery of two 9 millimeter pistols in the roof of the house. No one was in the immediate area at the time, so the items were labeled and deposited as found property.
Then, the same team of officers conducted searches at the residence of 27 year old Michael Requena's Reggae Street residence. As a result of the search, officers discovered (31) wrapped parcels of suspected cannabis in a bag. Officers also discovered an additional (15) parcels of suspected cannabis in a knapsack in the living room. Parcel (1) weighed 7.9 pounds or 3583 grams, and parcel (2) weighed 3.7 pounds or 1678 grams. All to a total combined weight of 11.6 pounds. Requena is detained pending charges.
