Sign Of The Times In Cayo North
posted (May 7, 2019)
There's some serious political mischief afoot in Cayo North - according to the PUP.

The mischief is over this street banner. It's painted PUP Royal Blue and says, "In Cayo North, Party Above Country. No To the ICJ."

That's the direct opposite of the George Price billboard, where he is quoted as saying that you should put the country above party politics.

So, is the PUP Candidate Michel Chebat responsible for the very negative, even counter-historical messaging? He told us that the UDP is responsible, not him.

On the PUP Cayo North page, the Executive Committee says that it, quote, "is obvious that our opponents will resort to using any tactics in their bag of tricks in trying to take us blindly to the ICJ. We have made our position crystal clear on the ICJ matter and in formulating our position we have made it clear that our position is the best for our country! We hereby reject and denounce this action and urge that the UDP party to refrain from trying to mislead our voters and instead educate them properly!"

And while there's that strong denial and denunciation, the message isn't too far off. Chebat's recorded message to voters on that same Facebook page says, quote, "Voting No is a vote to save Belize." End quote.
