Leadercast and The Strength of the Pack
posted (May 10, 2019)

Any working person knows about tension in the workplace. Indeed, personality clashes often turn simple disputes into something more. But, imagine leading a company and trying to manage all those different personalities, while trying at the same time to remain productive and commercially viable.

Issues like these were the focus of this year’s Leadercast Live, the largest, one-day leadership event on the planet,

Dionne Chamberlain, the Managing Director of Chamberlain Consulting, has been staging these seminars annually in Belize, as part of the larger global event.

Past seminars were focused on self-improvement, but today’s session was all about what leaders need to do to inspire their employees to be better at their jobs.

We spoke with Chamberlain about today’s forum, and what it means to lead healthier teams:

Dionne Chamberlain - Miranda - Leadercast Franchisee Owner
"Today's theme is leading healthier teams, and one of the things that we realize is that leadership is not really about you. Leadership is how you make others feel. Leadership is how you make a shift in other people, and that is how you know that you're a great leader. Today's session is focusing on building healthier teams. In the past, we did finding your purpose, and how to become a better leader personally. But now, it's about the others. A lot of times, as a leader, we worry about how we look, and how we feel. We have to start worrying about the people who are doing the work that we need to get done. And, if they do well, then we will do better, and we will do well. Today is really about refreshing and revitalizing existing leaders, opening the eyes to leaders. And one of the things that I want you to remember is that leadership is not position, it is action. Everybody is a leaders. All of us are the CEO's and the GM's of our homes, our families, our church groups, whatever. So, I don't want people to think that this is about some high level, high ranking positions. All of us are meant to lead. When people are not engaged, and aren't happy in their environments, they won't give engaging work, or happiness to customers. So, we need to focus on making sure that we delivering, so that our people do better, and the most important resource that any of us have."

"A great leaders has to clarify the mission, the vision, the goal, where we're going, how we're gonna get there, and ask and invite you to come on that journey with them. So, the leaders needs to know that you are going to be moving on that bus, in that direction. And the leader has to provide you the training, the development, the coaching, the mentoring, the resources to get what you need. But, the leader also has to be firm: standards, consequences and rewards and appreciation and recognition."

Leadercast was an all-day event.
