Down With Darrell, Santi Steps Up?
posted (May 10, 2019)

In the wake of Wednesday's referendum - there's some political intrigue developing in Caribbean Shores.  The "yes" campaign had a strong showing in that area with 64% of the voters saying "yes" in an area that has a formidable PUP representative, Kareem Musa, who was for a "no" vote.

So, that should be good news for the UDP Standard bearer Darrell Bradley, right?  Well, it isn't.

On referendum day - he was on our "Run di Referendum" show for a breezy two hours and seemed in no rush to get back to the campaign trail.  He said his machinery was at work.

But, big timers in the UDP have told us that it was former city councillor Leila Peyrefitte who had her machinery at work and that Bradley was not involved.

Well, news tonight is that Bradley is on the outs in Caribbean Shores and the party is moving to replace him.

Leila Peyrefitte has to be considered a frontrunner, and tonight former UDP Rep in the Area Santi Castillo is letting it be known that he is also in the running.  He posted this on Facebook a few minutes ago. Quote,

"I understand that Darell Bradley is history for the UDP in Caribbean Shores and so I want to publicly declare my interest in once again representing the UDP in Caribbean Shores. I won this seat by nearly 700 Votes in March of 2012 and stepped down in 2015 for my party to avoid splintering it. However, in hindsight that was a mistake and I now know that I am the best person to unseat the present PUP Area Rep, so residents of Caribbean Shores, let's Ride to Victory once again with Santi and the UDP."

So, there it is, in the wake of the referendum a battle for the shores begins.  We'll keep following it.
