Orel Targetted
posted (May 13, 2019)
Orel Leslie was twice acquitted of the same murder - most recently in July of 2018. That was for the killing of James Noralez.

He's been a free man for the past 10 months, but on Sunday morning, police say someone tried to take the 30 year old's life. It happened on Bocotora Street near the Michael Finnegan market. He was driving on Bocotora street when 6 shots rang out. Leslie escaped unhurt but police say he didn't want to make a complaint:

ASP Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Belize City
"Yes some shots were fired at him while he was inside his vehicle but he has not yet made an official report up to now."

Reporter
"We understand that one person from Banak Street has been detained?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"We have a person in custody at this moment."

Reporter
"Can you tell us if that person is cooperating with police; have police been able to get any information?"

ASP Alejandro Cowo
"Well, police is interviewing him but up to now the actual victim has not made a report. We are just trying to establish the motive or the reason why if indeed the person we detained did the actual shooting. It is just a procedure that we have to follow."

No charges are expected to be brought without a complaint.
