A man killed his wife this morning in Big Falls, Toledo. But he says it was an accident. Resort owner 48 year old Andrew Caliz - who you've seen on this newscast before - told police that this morning at 4:30, he and his common law wife, 31 year old Noehemy Duarte Caceres were getting ready to make a trip to Belize City.
Caliz say he took his licensed .380 pistol out of a drawer and slipped it into the waist of his pants. But, for some reason, the gun was already cranked and it accidentally went off. The single shot hit Caceres to her right upper shoulder, right near her neck.
He rushed her to the hospital, but she had bled out and was pronounced dead on arrival.
Caliz is presently detained while police investigate. He is the owner of Big Falls Extreme Adventure on the Rio Grande River.
