posted (May 14, 2019)
New anti-gang legislation was passed last year to make it a crime to be a member of a gang. But, it hasn't been used too often. It was used today, though, against four men who are alleged members of the warring Peace In The Village and "Bacalands" gangs - which are based in the St. Martin's area.

24 year old Akeem Augustine, 21 year old Ulide Allen, 25 year old Kevin Cacho and 23 year old Jeffrey Buller were charged for being members of a gang that engages in criminal activity.

Augustine and Allen were charged with being members of PIV, while Cacho and Buller were charged with being members of Bacaland Crips.

Senior Magistrate Ford explained to them that she cannot offer them bail because of the nature of the offense. Augustine was remanded until June 25, while Buller was remanded until June 26. Cacho was remanded until July 2, while Allen was remanded until July 1. The police reported that before they charged the men they conducted surveillance operations in the different areas.

These gangs co-exist within a few hundred feet of each other and their feuding has taken many lives.
