Woman Pleads Guilty To Sexual Assault Of Girl, Judge Tells Her Sin no More
posted (May 15, 2019)
32 year-old Stacey Leslie, a single mother of a 1 year-old child, walked out of the courtroom of Justice Colin Williams with the news that she will not be sent to prison after she pleaded guilty to common assault of a sexual nature on a female minor, who was only 14 years-old at the time.

She was facing the more serious charge of abetment to commit carnal knowledge. The incident occurred on September 17th, 2013. According to the allegation, she had aided and abetted her boyfriend John Williams to have sexual intercourse with the girl, and she had participated by kissing the girl on her mouth and breasts. Williams, however, was not brought to trial because he was killed about 2 years ago.

Leslie's attorney, made a plea for mitigation, expressing remorse on behalf of his client, reminding that she saved the court time and resources by pleading guilty and foregoing a full trial. He asked Justice Williams not to impose a custodial sentence. Leslie also spoke on her own behalf and asked for leniency.

After consideration, Justice Williams said that nothing useful would be served by sending Leslie to prison. He told Leslie to go in peace, and sin no more.

The Crown was represented by Senior Counsel Shanice Lovell.
