GUSTAVO CARDENAS At COURT
posted (May 15, 2019)
A former senior accountant at Belize Diesel and Equipment Ltd. was arraigned today for obtaining property by deception and claiming upon a forged document.

This is after 48 year old Gustavo Cardenas allegedly forged and cashed 3 Atlantic Bank cheques amounting to $2,107 - without having the required signatures. Cardenas appeared before Magistrate Emerson Banner on Monday, May 13th where he pleaded not guilty. He was released on a bail of $5,000 and his case was adjourned until June 15th.

The allegation is that in late April Cardenas took forged cheques from Belize Diesel and cashed them at G and W Shopping Mart in King's Park.

But when the owner went to cash the cheques, he couldn't because they did not have the pair of authorized signatures on them.

The storeowner did his own investigation and went to Belize Diesel and Equipment Company Limited and asked the Managing Director about the cheques. The director verified that the cheques were not genuine.
