There are some who may not appreciate plumbing, electrical and mechanical work as top career choices but we depend on these professionals daily. They also need to be celebrated for contributing to the work force. Today the Ministry of Education along with its partners celebrated them at their 3rd National Technical Vocational Education Training Conference at the Biltmore. Educators from TVET's countrywide along with representatives from the public and private sectors were present. Here is more from the conference.

Dr. Margarita Gomez, Director, Employment Training and Education Services
"The event today is celebration of TVET in Belize as you know we celebrate education every month in May and TVET is part of that celebration."

"TVET is technical vocational education training it is really preparing the workforce for the countries development, the workforce we need now and in the future and whatever we do should be relevant for the needs of the world of work so we should be preparing those students in all the different trade areas that industry needs be it plumbing, electrical, food preparation for all the trade areas."

"One of the message that we want to leave with everyone particularly the participants, the training institutions is that technology keeps changing so we can't thing that we can get the technologies the knowledge today and stay there we always have to be dynamic and similar that dynamism is taking place in the world of work and so because of that we have to have our people always moving towards the leading edge so what is there new and how can we get there and in that way we will be producing relevant employees for the future."

The conference continues tomorrow.
