Brother of Murder Victim Busted With Gun
posted (May 17, 2019)

Last night we told you about the arrest of a man whose brother had been killed earlier in the week.

Well tonight, 28 year-old Lindsford Baldwin, a welder of Ebony Street in Belize City known as “MOLEâ€￾, is at the Belize Central Prison after being taken to court for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

At around 6:00 yesterday evening, police saw Baldwin standing on the corner of Ebony Street and Magazine Road, and when Baldwin spotted them, he ran. The cops followed him, and they allegedly saw when he took the gun threw it into an empty lot. The cops eventually detained him, and escorted him back to the area, where they retrieved a black Smith and Wesson, 9 millimeter pistol, with 9 live rounds. The cops searched him and also found 20 grams of marijuana.

They charged him with keeping an unlicensed firearm, keeping unlicensed ammunition, and possession of controlled drugs. When he was arraigned today before Chief Magistrate Sharon Frazer, he pleaded not guilty to the firearm and ammunition charges, but guilty to the drug possession charge. He informed the Chief Magistrate that he was not seeking Supreme Court bail because his family’s resources will be used to bury his younger brother, Lyndon Baldwin.

Lyndon Baldwin was shot and killed on Monday night in an Ebony Street yard. Reports were that the shooter was actually looking for Lindsford Baldwin.

For the drug possession conviction, Chief Magistrate Fraser sentenced him to 3 months in jail, which will coincide with time he will spend on remand for the firearms offenses. Of note is that Baldwin claims that he did not actually see when the cops retrieved the weapon from the empty lot, because according to him, they made him put up his hands, and his back was turned.
